What to do
- Mendenhall Glacier - The city's most popular attraction is this half-mile-wide, 13-mile-long river of ice that flows into Mendenhall Lake. It can be viewed from the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.
- Climb Mount Juneau or Mount Roberts - For the most impressive views of the city and Gastineau Channel, trek three miles up Mount Juneau or a mile or so more to Mount Roberts. Mount Roberts can also be reached in five minutes via the Mount Roberts Tramway.
- Alaska State Museum - This state-of-the-art museum boasts artifacts and exhibits regarding Alaska's people, history and art.
