Fast Facts

With its melange of local flavors with culinary influences from its French and Dutch heritage, the island has earned its place as the gourmet capital of the Caribbean.

Although a treaty between the French and the Dutch was signed on March 23, 1648, peacefully dividing the island, it wasn’t until 1817 that the borders were finally set.

There are around a dozen dive sites with wrecks off the island’s shores.

There a convenient ferry service from Sint Maarten to the neighboring islands of Anguilla and St. Barts.
