Getting Around
There are more than 200,000 coffee trees at the Finca el Pacifico coffee plantation; a delightful two-hour drive through lush mountains surrounding Huatulco. Oaxaca relies on forestry products, fruit and vegetable crops, and native handicrafts to boost its economy.
Locals celebrate La Noche de Los Rábanos (Night of the Radishes) each December, carving people and animals from radishes, which are then judged by the governor.
One of Oaxaca's best-known products is mezcal, similar to tequila, but distilled from cactus varieties aside from the blue agave, which is used in the production of tequila.
