Los Cabos, on the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, is considered one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations. The region comprises two very different towns, Cabo San Lucas and the laid-back San José del Cabo. Both offer splendid white-sand beaches and clear, turquoise seas stretching as far as the eye can see plus an abundance of wildlife, from striped marlin and mahi-mahi to inquisitive dolphins and manta rays. Distinguishing the destination of Los Cabos is its iconic arch at Land’s End, El Arco, found on the most romantic and most photographed beach, Lover’s Beach.

Overview
The relaxing town of San José del Cabo is home to boutique shops, art galleries, and quaint outdoor cafes. In the spring, the destination comes alive with parades, music, and dancing, celebrating its Patron Saint and namesake at the Fiesta de San José del Cabo. There is also a festive Baja Sur Tequila and Mariachi Festival in October. Whether snorkeling beside the world-famous arch, roaming quaint village streets, diving into the perfect fruity margarita and ceviche, catching a heavenly sunset or dancing until dawn, Los Cabos will warm the body and inspire the soul of pleasure-seekers and sun-worshippers alike.
Los Cabos is a quick flight from, and very well connected to, many U.S. cities, and is served by numerous direct flights from major U.S. airports. What’s more, you’ll find an abundance of fabulous hotels and resorts appealing to every taste and budget, ranging from botique hotels to villa accommodations. Several Mexico cruises visit this location on a daily basis.

What To Do
Watch the sun go down on a relaxing Sunset Catamaran Cruise around El Arco, the famous rock arch at the edge of Baja California. Get a great taste of both glamorous Cabo San Lucas and charming San José del Cabo on a glass-bottom boat tour. Toast the day with a Mexican lunch and local tequila and learn how this traditional liquor is made. Ride horseback or by camel along seaside cliffs and desert canyons for a dream adventure. And, as Los Cabos is known as the Golf Capital of Mexico, visitors can choose from 15 celebrity-designed golf courses (with more on the way).
What To See
Visit the most iconic landmark in Los Cabos Los Arcos, or El Arco, and watch as playful sea lions swim amidst kayakers beside this picturesque granite rock formation. This grand meeting of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean is also home to Playa del Amor, or Lover’s Beach, an enchanting spot for sun-worshippers, photographers, poets, and lovers. Stroll the sidewalks in the magical town of San Jose del Cabo for its Art Walk and explore eclectic galleries while enjoying music and street shows.
Shopping
With an abundance of shopping opportunities to experience during your visit in Los Cabos, indulge in upscale Luxury Avenue boutique shops and the delightful Puerto Paraíso mall at the Cabo San Lucas Marina. While in San José del Cabo, visit the eclectic Plaza Artesanos, home to more than 75 vendors selling authentic Mexican jewelry, clothing, art, ceramics and other high-quality goods.
Nightlife
There's always a party going on in sublime Los Cabos. Listen to live music, sample craft beers, wine or tequila and dance the night away. Although San Jose del Cabo is less raucous than Cabo San Lucas, it offers plenty of options to ensure visitors a fantastic vacation. So, put on your party shoes and favorite nighttime attire and toast, “Viva Mexico!”
Off the Beaten Path
Ride a camel on a desert safari through the Baja Peninsula’s rugged outback at Rancho San Cristobal. Explore the colonial town of Todos Santos, with its impressive galleries, Bohemian art colony and very own Hotel California, (though probably not the one mentioned by the Eagles). Or satisfy any adrenaline fix with an off-road dune buggy adventure.
Food and Drink
There are many dining options throughout Los Cabos to satisfy every taste and budget. Here, you’ll discover a banquet of fresh seafood, thanks to the proximity of Los Cabos to the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Try the almejas chocolatas, chocolate clams, cooked on a bed of hot stones, with a spinach-like local herb called romerito. Smoked marlin is also popular, as well as local lobster, shrimp, abalone, stingray, crab and squid mixed with chile, onion, romerito and garlic. The traditional Comida de Pobres (food for the poor) is a tasty seafood soup with Mexican rice and beans served with corn tortillas. Locals frequently drink a piquant tomato and clam juice, as well as Damiana liquor, thought to aid digestion and even considered an aphrodisiac. Visit the sprawling 10-acre organic farm, kitchen, bar and grocery at Flora Farms at Las Animas Bajas in San Jose del Cabo for some of the region’s freshest organic foods.
