Atlanta offers The non-profit Georgia Aquarium focuses on both fun and conservation. Vacationers and locals can ride MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) from the downtown business center to the lively midtown arts district and beyond to explore the city’s sizzling hotspots.

An Atlanta City Pass offers discounts on such must-see sites as the Georgia Aquarium, High Museum, and Zoo Atlanta. In fact, the city’s midtown area boasts more cultural attractions than any city in the southwestern United States. Just make sure you save some energy for the evening because the city comes alive at night.

Chat with a dolphin and learn about dozens of other creatures of the deep at the delightful Georgia Aquarium.

Visit the site of the 1996 Olympics at Centennial Olympic Park.

Watch an Atlanta Falcons, Hawks or Braves game.

Discover the artistry of Rembrandt, Picasso and more at the High Museum.

Browse through the eclectic collection of stores and restaurants in Atlanta’s iconic Little Five Points neighborhood. You’ll also find a theatre showcasing the work of local playwrights, as well as comedy and live music venues in this lively corner of the city.

Wander along beautiful tree-lined streets of historic Inman Park, bordered by stately Victorian homes. Every April, the neighborhood hosts a rollicking weekend-long festival that draws locals and visitors alike.

Events

The new year kicks off with the Peachbowl Parade down Peachtree St.

Favourite son and Nobel laureate Martin Luther King Jr is feted during King Week, culminating on the anniversary of his birth, 15 January.

There's nothing like hearing 'to be or not to be' delivered with a southern drawl, and you can do just that during the Georgia Shakespeare Festival, which kicks off in June.

In mid-September, it's off to Stone Mountain Park for the Yellow Daisy Festival, a frenzy of daisy-related arts and crafts.

Atlanta's yuletide revelry includes the Festival of Trees, where you can bid on a fully decorated tree.
