Maine Travel Information
When to Go
Due to Maine’s landscapes, lush nature, and the draw of its many outdoor activities, every season can be an enticing time to go. Some of the state's most popular festivals take place during the summer months: the Maine Lobster Festival (1st weekend of August), the Oyster festival (June), the Machias Blueberry Festival (August), and the Country Fairs (July to early October).
November through April can get extremely cold in Maine, with consistent snow and rain. Average temperatures can get as low as -15F in the north, and 25F in the south. During the winter months, many of Maine’s attractions are also closed.
Peak season for travel and tourists is within the summer months, primarily from the end of May to September, with comfortable temperatures rarely exceeding 85 degrees. However, be prepared for large crowds during this time.
