Overview
Go big or go home might as well be the state motto of Texas. Everything feels wider, taller, and bigger here, from its largest city, Houston, to its endless plains and relaxing Gulf Coast shores. The state’s musically-minded capital city of Austin, The Live Music Capital of the World,® hosts such world-renowned festivals as the Austin City Limits Music Festival and South by Southwest (SXSW®) plus 250 or so foot-stompin’ musical venues.
Dallas is renowned for its Mavericks, Rangers and Cowboys sports teams, 50,000 acres of splendid parkland, National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, and endless slabs of lip-smackin’ barbeque. During the late 1800s, Fort Worth was a major cowboy trading post on the last part of the renowned Chisholm Trail. Today, the area is considered the Museum Capital of the Southwest.
Captivating San Antonio may be most remembered for the Alamo, but its enchanting River Walk is also one of the state’s most popular destinations. Texas encompasses around 267,339 square miles, which represents 7.4% of the United States. They’ve got some big boots to fill; which shouldn’t be a problem. Especially in San Antonio, where 40-foot-high boots are on display outside the city’s Northstar Mall.
